january for the bodtchers

(love this moment where they both wanted to hold my hand)

scarlett's 2 year checkup, i can't believe she's down to only yearly well checkups now-- definitely not a baby anymore!

visit to the dentist confirmed i've maintained 4 and a half years of cavity-free baby teeth! just patting myself on the back for the little things.

this girl was sneaking in our room and falling asleep in our bed all through january...

we transitioned scarlett into amelia's room to make room for their playroom!

just some wall-up training for these little ladies.

movie night!

her nursery leaders spoil her. so much.

the girls (mostly scarlett) loves the turtles!

(she's very passionate about eating fries)

i got all my groceries at costco and then... realized that i forgot my wallet. it was a really sad moment for me.

practicing heart-hair for valentines day!

the ropes course makes scarlett nervous, so i told her we could go together.

just a few cousins watching tv...

my friend from work is making these cute crocheted figured nativity scenes for CHEAP. and i told her to put me down for an order, because they are PERFECT!

instastories:

january flew by; i was desperate to get past my pregnancy nausea and the winter cold, and i'm not sure i documented too much aside from their sleeping faces and our trips to the aquarium. bless this mess i call motherhood!

amelia's winter revue 2017

amelia performed her winter revue to "classic" by mkto, and it was so darling to watch her amp her sass to such a sassy song! it seriously makes me so happy to watch her dance (and dance so well at that) and perform confidently. she was so happy to have mom, dad, baby sis, both sets of grandparents, great grandma allred, and the robbins supporting her on her big day.

finding out she is a girl and deciding her name is evelyn

jeremy and i felt strongly that baby #3 was a girl, just because we've already made two beautiful girls. we set up a "gender check" ultrasound through jordan river ob at 16 weeks. though we were both extremely excited to find out the sex of our baby, we (okay, mostly i) wanted to find out with the girls. we had the ultrasound technician put the results in an envelope and i gave the envelope to zurchers to fill with the "right color balloons" the next day. the girls and i patiently waited all day for daddy to come home and aunt collette to come take pictures and grandma to cheer with grandpa on facetime. looking back, i'm still so impressed with myself for not peeking and for being so calm with such an exciting surprise. we opened the box and out came three pink balloons and all i could think was I KNEW IT and whew! jer and i would have been floored. shocked. speechless if the baby was a boy-- we were convinced she was a she!! (and we were right!)

we had to iron out some wrinkles before we decided on her name-- evelyn eve. jer has loved the name 'evelyn' for a long time and didn't really want to explore any other names. i love it as well, and adored the fact that he felt so strongly about naming his own child. 'eve' is after me. it's simple and special and sacred, and i love that it flows so nicely with evelyn.

love my growing little family and all three of my little girls!

happy easter and happy third trimester evie baby!

it's been such a good day for us, and our whole family! we spent the day together with our easter surprises, talking about Jesus, visiting the temple, napping, and egg hunting and grandma's and grandpa's. AND we got a 12 hour hospital cancel from work, so i don't have to work tonight! i can't wait to pick out a matching easter dress for you and your sisters next year! easter is so great, i hope i spend many easters teaching you about why we celebrate. tonight, i'm feeling especially thankful for all my blessings-- include you girls, daddy, our support network, our home and cars, our healthy bodies, and of course, our Heavenly Father and our savior who sacrificed so much for our eternal happiness. my heart fills full from a full day of feeling the spirit. our braxton hicks have increased to 8 per hour at rest for a couple nights this week, but dad and i aren't too worried with their irregularity. i've been trying to hydrate lots and put my feet up. i'm sort of in shock that we have under 12 weeks before we get to meet you! the first two trimesters flew by so quickly!

love you lots,
mommy

dear evelyn,

i'm feeling blessed today for all the small blessings that could easily go unnoticed. there's something about small children that help mama's like me slow down and "small the roses." they say each pregnancy is different, and it's so true. we have been our healthiest, still exercising 5+ times a week on top of chasing 2 toddlers around, and yet we weigh the same amount at 27 weeks as i did at the end of scarlett's pregnancy. most days are great, which is why i can remark how fast this pregnancy has been flying; every once in a while, i get a really miserable day. i ache and i'm nauseated and i wonder how i'll make it to 40 weeks-- and then i realize that it's because i've been so blessed this time around with such an easy pregnancy that the miserable days really stand out. your sisters are so good about knowing when i'm feeling unwell; they will sit with me and rub my belly, or play quietly among themselves while i recover on the couch. they both love little babies and are so nurturing in their own ways-- you are the luckiest to have such sweet examples. braxton hick contractions have started this week (they started about 1-2 every hour and we're now up to 5-6/hour) and i'm grateful for the knowledge of my cervix of steel (had 4-6 contractions every hour from 27 weeks on with scarlett's pregnancy and still needed to be induced after 40 weeks). mostly the contractions are annoying (achy and disruptive), but i'm still relieved we can keep you safe and growing inside.

for the most part, life just keeps moving. when i get a minute of quiet to ponder, i think about how fast my almost 5 years of motherhood has flown. amelia is graduating from preschool and starting kindergarten this fall. scarlett turns 3 at the end of the year, and will become a sunbeam and start activities outside the home. you'll join us this summer and i know we will be so blessed for your new Heavenly spirit in our home.  i pray often the transition will be smooth for all of us, that i will be able to give you the best that you deserve and that you will feel loved beyond measure.

i love you so,
mom

dear evelyn,

i've been feeling great this week-- somehow i feel like i've grown into our bump (whereas before it felt a bit awkward and like i needed to waddle around). we've been sleeping comfortably, only waking up for potty breaks. i got rid of belly pillows a while ago and have never looked back! also, last week we discovered heartburn. not the burning in your chest/throat area like i had assumed heartburn was, but the achy, right in the center of your chest/sternum pain that was moderately alarming. i discussed possibilities with my doctor and pharmacist and have started taking pepcid nightly for relief, but refused the gi ultrasound.

as for our 25 week ob appointment with dr. thackeray, we're measuring perfectly at 25 cm and 150 for your fht's (you kicked 3 times during the few moments we listened to you). he reminded us that our next appointment will be our last every 4 week appointment, and we'll begin every 2 weeks! so interesting how fast this pregnancy has flown! we're down to the last weeks before 3rd trimester and home stretch!!!!!!

i love the way scarlett says your name and the way amelia constantly asks if you're kicking. daddy was so excited to feel you roll a limb across my belly.

i just love you so,
mom

25

dear evelyn,

our family went to moab this weekend and we had so much fun. daddy and i went there for our honeymoon and our first anniversary, and all those memories came flooding back. it seems that every time we visit, change is approaching and i'm about to grow and stretch. our first visit was our sweet honeymoon; daddy and i had to learn to compromise and grow together, but change was welcome and it was a fairly easy transition. a year later, we returned for our first anniversary and found out big sis amelia was on her way; i felt ill-prepared to wear all the hats a mother does and was terrified to say the least. daddy told me how excited he was to be a dad, and promised me everything would be okay. six years later, we're back again; this time growing our third a baby, a 25 weeker, you! most days, i feel so ready for this growth and change. some moments, i feel overwhelmed and incapable. at the end of the day, i feel peace; that i'm raising my family the best i can, that i'm setting an example i hope is good enough, that i'm teaching enough and that my children feel loved enough. and daddy is still right by my side, promising that everything will be okay. so much better than just okay, too.

you've been moving and kicking like crazy these days-- i love your constant nudges. i felt you in two places at once for the first time this week. scarlett felt you move multiple times while she was cuddling me, but amelia is still waiting for her turn!

we love you so much
(especially me),
mom
